This established and secure community of only 35 homes, is renowned for its many mature fruit trees … mangoes, avocados and other trees. The common areas are beautifully landscaped and maintained. The winding, interlock brick streets are swept daily. Back yards are separated with screening that is overgrown with vines and hedges. The gardens are surrounded by lush vegetation and are private.

Situated approximately eight minutes west of Ajijic, along the newly paved & widened Carretera-Chapala highway that runs along the north shore of Lake Chapala, is La Cristina. Here, you will find an assortment of beautiful homes on large lots, some would even be called estates. Mexico’s most famous golfer, Lorena Ochoa, has a home here! About halfway to the lake from the Carretera is the small adult community called “Villas La Cristina”. Inside the big iron gate (with intercoms to each home for security) you’ll find 6 beautiful homes, painted with bright colors and many with stylish domes and cupolas. Birds and the rustling of the wind of the lake (just a couple hundred meters away) are only sounds. 

  About an hour south of Guadalajara, Mexico’s second largest city, Lake Chapala is the largest freshwater lake in Mexico. This area is known as “Lakeside” to residents from the U.S., Canada, Great Britain and Europe, among other places, and “la Ribera” to Mexicans.  The Town of Chapala is located 10 min from Ajijic Mexico. Chapala is a small town known for its tranquility and relaxed atmosphere, making it a preferred place to live and invest in a place for the ultimate retirement experience due partly to the eclectic mixture, it has developed a continental old-world charm which blends smoothly with a distinctly Mexican ambiance. 

Vista del Lago is at 7Km east of Chapala, on your way to Vista del Lago you pass a typical Mexican village called Santa Cruz de la Soledad and also San Nicolas.  It consists of an entire community designed around a 9-hole golf course.  Homes in the area are focused around having easy accessibility to the golf course and others further up the hill enjoy spectacular views. 

San Antonio Tlayacapan is a town on the north shore of Lake Chapala located between Ajijic and Chapala that is known for its tranquility and for being unlike Ajijic and Chapala a more economically accessible place. Long before the Spaniards arrived, the Cazcanes and the Cocas lived in what is now known as San Antonio Tlayacapan, and both were dedicated to agriculture and hunting. In 1523, Cortez sent men to control the area. By 1539, both tribes had surrendered to the Spaniards, who then built monasteries as refuges for the natives. Thus, the first Catholic church in Lakeside was built in this spot by the Franciscans. All that remains today is the tower, preserved in the patio of the primary school, the rest having been destroyed by time. A new church was built, still in use today. 

  Chula Vista Country Club, two minutes from Ajijic and 3 to Chapala, has a sporty nine-hole golf course set into the mountains, and two lighted tennis courts. Some 200 attractive homes surround the golf course overlooking the lake. It's well worth driving through to see these beautifully constructed homes. Chula Vista has a strong neighborhood association, which works to maintain the quality of services in this area. Chula Vista is one of the favorite places to live around Lake Chapala and Ajijic, this is certainly a luxury area here in Mexico. 

 Located in the Lake Chapala Jalisco between the city of Chapala and the Pueblo Magico of Ajijic is this small town called Riberas del Pilar that is known for its tranquility and for being Unlike Ajijic and Chapala a more economically accessible place. The best location on Lake Chapala, with main proximity to Chula Vista Golf Club, Walmart, and Lake Chapala; Likewise, Riberas del Pilar borders directly with Lake Chapala for more than 15 blocks

  Jocotepec is situated on the western end of the north shore of Lake Chapala.  Since 2009, the town is the site of Driscoll berry farm's operations, a major exporter of organically grown strawberries, blackberries and raspberries to US, Canada and Europe. Like so many Mexican villages, a large central plaza anchors the community. Plenty of iron benches for townspeople to sit and this plaza is always active, especially on the weekends.  Although never a retirement haven, for those who want to live in a truly Mexican village North Americans are just beginning to discover it.  In this bustling, vibrant town, civic pride reigns high. Jocotepec has been experiencing a renaissance of sorts, through renovations, fresh paint, new plants, roads, traffic redesign, plus a new highway & by-pass to Guadalajara. 

 Roca Azul is a pleasant and warm subdivision near the area of the 'Rivera de Chapala'. The neighborhood is located near (about 5 minutes) from Jocotepec, Jalisco (a relatively small, but pleasant traditional town), and about 35 minutes from Ajijic. This established approx. 40-year-old neighborhood is popular as weekend homes for Guadalajara's and ex-pats, who enjoy living in a quiet, peaceful country setting.

A quick ten-minute drive west from Ajijic, you will pass the communities of La Canacinta, La Cristina, Los Charales before arriving at the village of San Juan Cosala between Ajijic and Jocotepec two of the most popular towns in the area that have become one of the most visited places in the Lake Chapala area. Visitors flock to Lakeside’s most popular spas, Balneario San Juan, with its several thermal pools and its natural geyser.  Well above the village the Racquet Club, which features homes with terrific panoramic views and a tennis club. The club features a pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, six to eight tennis courts and a clubhouse.  

  You will also find on the east end of Rafeal Osuna Monte Coxala Spa located in San Juan Cosala, just 10 min from Ajijic and 15 min from Chapala.
